UNDESERVING HOMES

During a population census in 2007 in Chile there are 533 settlements where people live in tent-like housings. Un Techo para Chile has set the mission to improve the living conditions for these people gradually. In these tent – communities access to fresh water and to the sewage system are drastically reduced. Concerning health care and access to the educational system the situation is not very encouraging.

Un Techo para Chile is in contact with many of these settlements, in order to establish a well defined integration-process together with the inhabitants in order to find the best alternatives concerning their situation together with the relevant people. The next step is usually to construct “mediaguas”, very simple housing; and later social housing.
