Today, a growing number of travelers prefer a type of tourism that allows them to participate actively in projects - be it social, scientific or environmental ones – within the destination country. Volunteer travels do offer an attractive combination between enjoying vacation on the one hand and on the other to leave a seed of real support within the country, for example during the construction of camps in the suburbs of Puerto Montt, by assisting a tourism project with indigenous Pehuenche people during the initial phase, or during the investigation of whales in the Patagonia. To find oneself part of the local community, to live with the own flesh and blood the efforts of a project of protection or construction; and this way adding a strong, deep and authentic experiences to the touristic travel.
